This is the false ending. Every good story has a moment directly after the climax when the reader thinks the story is over. Yet, it’s not. Jesus has died. His body is removed from the cross and buried in a tomb. All of the hope that came with Jesus’ first coming is seemingly over. He’s actually dead. You can imagine the sadness and despair of the disciples as they hear the news. The women saw where Jesus was buried. As far as everyone knew at this moment…it was over.
